HubBub
GitHub notifications in your macOS menu bar — and in Notification Center.
What it does
- Red circle in the menu bar means unread GitHub notifications; a cat glyph means inbox zero.
- Left-click jumps straight to your most recent unread notification.
- Right-click for the notification list, a manual refresh, and account settings.
- New notifications post a native Notification Center banner — click it to open that notification.
Signing in
HubBub uses GitHub's OAuth device flow: click Sign in with GitHub, enter the
code it shows you in your browser, and HubBub finishes on its own. Pasting a personal
access token with the notifications scope also works. Either way the
credential is stored in the macOS Keychain, never on disk in plaintext.
Install
HubBub is currently in private distribution. Builds and source access are handled directly — the app requires macOS 13 or later.
